Kohler, Geo H.A., Hauck, Eugene (Proprietors). New York: Kohler & Hauck, 1898. 66 pages. 19.5 x 14.5 cm. A tribute to Theodore Stewart and his company. Theodore Stewart owned two upscale saloons that doubled as cabinets of curiosities. A master marketer, Stewart sought to cater to a clientele of high standard by creating a museum-like environment, even allowing the ladies from uptown to view the collection in the early hours before opening. This volume, dedicated to Stewart by the authors and former Stewart employees, is an outgrowth of the high esteem in which Stewart was held by his loyal staff. According to a page in the book, Stewart's policy of dividing up all the proceeds from the bar at Christmas among all saloon workers was particularly appreciated. Illustrated throughout. Covers rubbed and lightly chipped. Interior clean, pages toned. One copy held at the New York Historical Society Library.  Orig. gray illustrated wraps. Very good. Wraps.
