London: Printed for Mary Kettibly, and Sold by Richard Wilkins, at the King's Head in St. Paul's Church-Yard, 1719. Second Edition. (xiv), 163, (12); 86, (7) . In contrast with the court cookbooks that flourished during 18th century, ordinary housewives turned to Mary Kettilby, first published in 1714, revised in 1719. An unpretentious approach to cookery that offered such casual directions as "set them in the oven that is not too hot" conveys the attitude of domestic familiarity. Re-backed, portions of the original backstrip preserved. Interior crisp. [WHITAKER OXFORD 1714], [BITTING 258], [CAGLE 790]. Orig. tooled calf, rebacked. Very good. Hardcover.
